COMMUNITY-BASED NUTRITION PROGRAM (CBNP) IN KANDAHAR PROVINCE
BARAN is currently implementing this project to helps in engaging target communities in the process of nutrition Programme planning and implementation at village level, thereby increasing coverage and awareness of communities on nutrition.
The project aims to:
- Improve the capacity of CHW and other community volunteers such as Family Health Action Group (FHAG) members to provide age-appropriate and gender-sensitive community-based nutrition services.
- Increase capacity of community mobilizers (such as health shura members, Community Health Supervisors (CHSs), Community Led-Total Sanitation (CLTS) facilitators, agricultural extension workers, etc. to increase participation and linkage to support community nutrition mobilization and monitoring at the community level.
- Increase knowledge and awareness of mothers, fathers, adolescents, child caregivers, and family members on key nutrition practices and behaviors.
- Effective and efficient program management to strengthen the relationship and linkage of communities (women, men, and influential community leaders) and health facilities and early detection of malnutrition cases in the communities.
This project is funded by UNICEF, started in January 2021 and will be ended in December 2021.
