POLIO SUPPORT TO ROUTINE EPI SERVICE DELIVERY IN KANDAHAR PROVINCE
BARAN implemented “Polio Support to Routine EPI Service Delivery in Kandahar Province” project.
The overall objective of the project was to increase routine immunization coverage among children under one years old through deployment of 45 extra vaccinators. This boosted EPI coverage, sustain immunity for polio, address the gap of shortfall in number of vaccinators. Ultimately, this contributed in improving health status of mothers and children under one year.
Through this project, we have identified and trained 45 new vaccinators; deployed these vaccinators in selected districts for fixed (all female) and outreach immunization sessions (male and female depending on the community context); and equipped vaccinators with required knowledge and supplies. This project was funded by UNICEF, started in January 2020 and ended on December 2020.
