STRENGTHEN AND SCALE UP MALARIA PREVENTION AND CASE MANAGEMENT TO IMPROVE HEALTH STATUS IN AFGHANISTAN

BARAN has been qualified by United Nation Development Program (UNDP) for implementation of “The Strengthen and Scale up Malaria Prevention and Case Management to Improve Health Status” project in Kandahar and Bamyan provinces.

The main objective of this projects were: 1) to reduce malaria morbidity by 85% in all malaria stratum by the end of 2017; 2) to reduce malaria mortality to zero by the end of 2017; 3) To reduce the incidence of Plasmodium Falciparum malaria to sporadic cases by the end of 2017 with a vision to completely interrupt transmission by 2020; 4) To reduce malaria morbidity in high risk area (stratum one districts) by 80% by the end of 2017. The project was started in April 2016 and ended in March 2019 with a duration of 32 months.
