MULTI-SECTORIAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE IN HARD TO REACH AREAS OF KANDAHAR PROVINCE
BARAN has been qualified by United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for implementation of “Multispectral Emergency Response in Hard to Reach Areas” project in Kandahar province in partnership with Youth Health and Development Organization (YHDO).
The project aimed to increase the protection needs of vulnerable and conflict affected individuals, particularly women and children.
BARAN provided effective and timely response to acute needs of the population of five hard to reach districts of Kandahar province by establishing five First Aid Trauma Post (FATP) centers in Maywand ,Shawalikot, Arghistan , Khakrez and Zhari districts. In addition, the project strengthened the referral system with provision of extra ambulances in the targeted districts. BARAN provided basic physiotherapy care to war wounded patients through the presence of trained nurses enabled to explain and demonstrate basic mobilization exercises to patients and caretakers.
The project was started in November 2017 and ended in November 2018 with a duration of 12 months.
